Approved Home Care is excited to announce an upcoming inservice on Tuesday, August 12th at 9:00 am for the staff at Presbyterian Village North, located in North Dallas. Our inservice will be discussing dementia care and fall prevention for seniors and the elderly residents. We will be working with Liz Cox, the Director of Social Services and the staff of this beautiful park like campus. It is no surprise that Presbyterian Village North was awarded by US News in 2014, the Best in Nursing Homes Award. This 550 resident campus offers seniors and the elderly assisted living, skilled nursing, short term rehab and is certified in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. Presbyterian Village North is located on 63 groomed acres in North Dallas of tranquil parks, walking trails, benches to chat with friends, or you can even enjoy bird watching. It is an exciting time for Presbyterian Village North since they are undergoing an $87 million expansion. They have recently renovated the dining room, game room, and assisted living areas to offer the best in services for our community, serving Dallas, Highland Park, University Park, Carrollton, Plano, and Richardson.
Our knowledgeable and trained staff at Approved Home Care offers hands on care for the elderly as they recover from a fall, or need more attentive care due to a recently diagnosis illness. Since my mother in law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when she was in her 80’s, we cared for her as she aged to live into her 90’s. Taking care of seniors is very personal for us, and we understand the stages of dementia, and the challenges the disease brings to patients and loved ones family. We have highly skilled caregivers who are specialized in Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and fall prevention, since so many families will face the same challenges we experienced in caring for our mother.
Our caregivers know that it is essential to re-direct the Alzheimer’s patient, not correct the patient. It is important to explain to the family members that life has now changed, and their loved one will not be the same, so you have to accept the personality changes as the disease progresses. Some family members want to stay in denial, but that does not help the aging parent with dealing with the frustration of dementia. We understand that a new outlook on having fun with the dementia patient is important and fun can be had by all, enjoying talking about old memories of the past, not focusing on what they can’t remember, like their most recent meal.
Next Tuesday, John Bolin, our client manager will be talking more in depth on our nationally recognized dementia care program provided by our trained CNA’s and Nurse Aids, on our staff. Our experienced caregivers are required to train monthly on the latest advances in senior care. Our caregivers can help your family member since they have experience with assisting the elderly with bathing, dressing, and grooming, medication reminder, meal preparation, companionship, laundry, light housekeeping, errands, Dr. appointments, to grocery shopping.
How do you start our services? We come out to meet with you in your home, rehab, or hospital room and lay out a plan of care that helps the elderly patient with needed daily care. We can help as little as 4 hours a week to 24 hour, or even live-in around the clock care. We ask questions to determine which caregiver would be the best match to bond with the patient. And we are always available 24 hours a day to answer your questions and we are here to serve. Some patients will be discharging from Presbyterian Villages North after rehab, but they are still in need of some extra help around the house. We are the answer to relieve your stress, improve safety, benefit healthy living, and help the elderly heal in the comfort of home.
We would love to talk with you if you have any questions. Please give us a call at (972) 658-4001 if you feel your family member would benefit from in home care. We also work with all of the long term care insurance companies and can answer your questions to start using your long term care insurance benefit. Many of our patients have long term care policies with Genworth, CNA, Transamerica, Thrivent, Allianz, John Hancock, Cincinnati Life, to name a few. Give us a call, we would love to be of service.
