We’re modernizing the process of setting up and managing care as well as improving upon communication between families, Care Professionals, and our Support Team.

Technology and Care that makes a difference.

Caregivers will be able to list their qualifications, skills, hours they’re able to work and distances they’re willing travel. Seniors will specify the type of help they need, the hours they want and important personal details – that they only speak Spanish, or that they have dogs, or that they live in a senior living community. Approved will match caregivers and seniors accordingly, with final approval of the match in the hands of the seniors and their families.

Approved will also give seniors a custom-built, easy-to-use internet portal where staff and families can view any changes in the senior’s needs or condition, so the caregivers will be better prepared when they walk in the door. Our portals and telephony system will also be used to record what services seniors received and for how long. Authorized relatives will have access to the information, so they’ll be able to monitor the situation.

We do things differently…

We are excited to say a lot is happening at Presbyterian Village North, located at 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas, TX 75243, as they are undergoing an $87 million expansion. Presbyterian Village North is a nonprofit continuing care retirement center offering care for 550 seniors on the beautiful campus community. Presbyterian Village North offers seniors a variety of living options including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, with a certified Dementia and Alzheimer’s unit, and a robust Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility for both short term and long term care. They are conveniently located close to Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, and Medical City, not far from Highland Park, University Park, Garland, Plano, and Richardson, TX.

Presbyterian Village North is expanding by adding additional housing for elderly who prefer Independent Living, Assisted Living, and nearly doubling their skilled nursing capacities by 2017. The construction is already aggressively reshaping the entire property, and will make Presbyterian Village north virtually unrecognizable when construction is completed in about 2 years. As they were awarded by US News and World Report, Best in Nursing Homes in the past, they will surely continue receiving national awards for quality senior care on a beautiful tranquil groomed park of 63 acres in North Dallas.

Presbyterian Village North and we at Approved Home Care share core values of excellence, compassion, faith, and integrity. We love the staff at Presbyterian Village North, and have enjoyed working with residents at Presbyterian Village North in the Independent living homes, and the skilled nursing facility. Renovation is already completed on the Assisted Living center, game room, and dining room for the residents to enjoy.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s care is important to us at Approved Home Care since my mother in law suffered from memory issues in her early 80’s and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Charlotte was a very independent woman, working as a Real Estate agent until her 70’s, after working for the Central Intelligence Agency stationed in Austria after World War II. We helped Charlotte age with grace as activities of daily living became more difficult. She needed help with medication reminders, bathing, dressing, brushing her teeth, making meals, grocery shopping, and cleaning her house. Charlotte eventually entered a memory care facility, and our caregivers, or CNA’s were a blessing in her life.

Since we have lived thru the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s of a loved one, we are passionate at helping seniors and the elderly find a safe way to age in place at home. Our caregivers are trained in fall prevention, and dementia care, along with monthly in-service to ensure our ongoing training is the best in the industry. This business is personal to us, and we love making a difference with the elderly as they face similar challenges we endured as we cared for our mother.

Some family members, when visiting Mom, wanted to correct Mom, or tell her she had already told that story. These visits did not go well, and the same sister remained in denial that Mom had anything wrong, so she expected that Mom would act the same way as 10 years before. Family members need to realize that times are different for the loved one once diagnosis with Alzheimer’s. It is best to accept the diagnosis, than look for another reason for Mom’s inability to keep her focus. Correcting the patient creates frustration and confusion for the dementia patient. It is best to re-direct, not correct, to keep the stress level down for the Alzheimer’s patient.

If you have any senior care questions, please call us at (972) 658-4001. We would love to help
provide daily care for your loved one with as little as 4 hours to 24 hour care. We are also a long term care preferred provider with Transamerica, Genworth, MetLife, Mass Mutual, CNA, John Hancock, Allianz, Thrivent to name a few. We hope for the opportunity to be of service.

Happy Holidays from our Santa who loves senior home care in Allen, TX at The Belmont at Twin Creeks!  We attended a holiday event at Royal Nails in Dallas by The Belmont at Twin Creeks, a premier Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility located in Allen, who specializes in elderly care in Allen.  The Belmont at Twin Creek is located at 999 Raintree Circle which is a beautiful facility for senior care. The Belmont staff cares for both long term and short term rehabilitation patients conveniently located to several hospitals including Baylor Hospital, McKinney, McKinney Medical Center, and Texas Health in Allen.

Our friend, Wanda Gaddis,  the Marketing and Business Development Director for Belmont was present, serving white and red wines,  hors d’oeuvres and treats while local hospital social workers, managers and staffs attended for a manicure and pedicure.  The staff enjoyed a holiday break and look forward to spreading more cheer to the elderly patients they serve.

Our client manager, John Bolin was disguised as Santa handing out goodies to those whose names were found on the “Nice” list, and taking pictures with the team of caring professionals. The Belmont at Twin Creeks in Allen is a part of the Cantex Continuing Care Community,  which also offers home health services through Theracare and hospice services through Elysian Hospice. We all serve Allen, Dallas, Richardson, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Plano, McKinney, Frisco, Lewisville, and Denton areas.

Approved Home Care loves senior care at The Belmont at Twin Creeks,  so if you need elderly care please contact our friend, Wanda Gaddis at: (469) 343-3154.  If you need Nurse home care, please call Theracare Home Health,  and ask for our friend April Garrett at: (214) 783-3061.  And if you are considering Hospice care, please reach out to Elysian Hospice, and please contact Kerry Horton at: (318) 572-7809.  Tell them, Santa sent you!

We all share an equal vision of providing exceptional senior care to keeping hospital readmissions low.  At Approved Home Care we have experienced Nurse Aid’s come into the home or rehab and care for the senior patient to promote healing.  Our hands on care helps seniors who are fall risks, and allows them to heal at home in a safe environment.  Our caregivers take on the daily chores and relieve stress around the house and provide a cleaner environment to keep the patient and home infection free.  We also assist with medication reminders that help the senior keep track of daily use of medications to avoid medication issues.  All the things our experienced caregivers do for the elderly makes the home happier and more safe.  And Santa recommends our services for seniors who need a little help this season!

Many times during the holidays, family members realize that Mom and Dad could benefit from in home care.  We are the trusted experts that can come in and improve the care for seniors.  All of our caregivers are bonded, and insured, and on our payroll.  We take all of the risk out of hiring a professional caregiver, so you know you are getting the best in senior home care.  Many of our patients are dealing with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, COPD, heart issues, and no longer have the energy to keep up with daily routines and chores.

Please call us at (972) 658-4001 and we can come out to meet the family while you are in town enjoying the holidays.  We also are a preferred provider with Transamerica, Genworth, Cinninnati Life, John Hancock, Prudential, Mutual of Omaha, Thrivent, CNA, Allianz, to name a few of the long term care companies we serve.

This past week we visited the professional staff at Stonemere Rehabilitation Center, located in Frisco, TX, conveniently at 11855 Lebanon, close by Centennial Medical Center in Frisco.  Both of our Client Managers, John Bollin and Sherry Crabtree enjoyed talking with the senior staff of Stonemere.   This team of professionals is very experienced and offers comfort and quality care for those who need rehabilitation after a hospital stay, or recovering from an injury or fall. This state of the art facility provides quality care for short term rehabilitation patients and long term care patients in Frisco, Prosper, The Colony, Allen, McKinney, Richardson, Dallas, Carrollton, Plano.  Stonemere is also excited to announce they are under construction with a new memory care unit which plans to open next fall.

We teamed up with April Garrett with Theracare Home Health, a Cantex company, to do a lunch and introduction of our home care senior services. The Executive Director, along with the directors of nursing, marketing, admissions and therapy were also present, among other staff.  April, of Theracare served Three Stacks Barbeque from Frisco: sliced mesquite smoked brisket, chicken and baby back ribs, along with cheesy creamed corn, green beans and potato salad. Approved in Home Care is the first choice and preferred provider for elderly home care with April of Theracare Home Health for help with senior patients with activities of daily living.  We provide experienced caregiver for help around the house and personal care, and the exclusive provider for caregiving services at Stonemere Rehabilitation.

Why is Approved Home Care a preferred provider for home care services?  We work with each family and patient and discuss the diagnosis and help the patient heal in the comforts of home.  Our caregivers help with bathing, dressing, grooming, medication assistance reminders, meal preparation, errands, laundry, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, transportation, bill paying, taking out the garbage, getting the mail, watering plants, pet care to name a few things we do in senior care.  Since our caregivers help one-on-one in the home, we help prevent falls in the home and that level of care keeps our patients from getting readmitted in the hospital.  Our low hospital readmission rate is important to hospital social workers since the hospital is evaluated on hospital readmissions.

Approved Home Care has experienced caregivers, or CNA’s on our payroll in Frisco, Plano, Dallas, Richardson, Allen, Garland, McKinney, Prosper, Carrollton, The Colony, Highland Park, and University Park.  Our Nurse Aid’s have many years of senior care experience before they can care for our patients with Dementia care, Parkinson Care, COPD, Stroke recovery, Cancer, Hospice, and Alzheimer’s care.  Our agency is licensed, insured, and bonded, and we only hire the best caregivers.  We offer senior care for as little as a few hours daily to live in care, or 24 hour, around the clock home care for our more chronic patients.

We are private pay and offer detailed billing, which makes us a preferred provider for long term care insurance policies.  We can process your long term claims for elder care with Genworth Financial, Mutual of Omaha, Thrivent, Allianz, CNA, Transamerica, Prudential, Mass Mutual, New York Life, John Hancock, American Fidelity, Bankers Life, Cincinnati Life, Met Life, Northwestern Mutual, Assurity Life, American Mutual, to name a few carriers.  Call us today at (972) 658-4001 and we can come out and discuss care options at your earliest convenience.

We have several friends in the over the 40’s and 50’s crowd who took a corporate promotion and now live far away who have elderly parents living in Richardson, Dallas, Plano, Highland Park, University Park, Garland, Carrolton, Frisco, Addison, Farmers Branch, Allen, McKinney, and Coppell. We talk about their ongoing stories dealing with Mom suffering from dementia, Dad diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and Aunt Betty suffering from a Stroke, while Uncle Bill limited with COPD. The problem is that no one lives close by and can provide daily care and home assistance for their family. Parent’s health issues create family stress and safety concerns for seniors in the home.

How have they solved this senior care problem? They know they can call me anytime, and ask for advice. Such as who is the best Geriatric Dr. Referral in Farmers Branch, TX? Who is the highest rated home health with nursing care in Richardson, TX? Or which Hospital and Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility has the best in care in University Park, TX?

Somehow thru random life events, many people find themselves living far away and searching for quality in home care for parents who can come and help a few hours a day, up to 24 hour care, even live-in care. We have CNA’s and Nurse Aid’s to come in and help with daily care, medication reminders, nutritious meal preparation, laundry, changing sheets, incontinence care, errands, Dr. appointments, to grocery shopping.

My friend Brad called the other day and he is blessed having his parents live near-by in Plano in their 80’s, but he has noticed Mom not taking the correct amount of medication daily, not so blessed. He was very troubled and we discussed senior home care since our caregivers are trained in helping with medication assistance reminders for our senior care clients. We had an experienced caregiver who came out the next day to start helping Brad’s Mom with daily elderly care, and Brad was thrilled with being able to keep her home to live independently.

But what steps should be done for the child living far away from parents in Richardson, TX?

Have a discussion and lay out the priorities with your parents. Be prepared that most parents are in denial and think they are managing their senior care well. The truth is revealed the parents are not able to live at home without professional home help coming in to help around the house and provide personal care. And it is better to act now and give us a call at (972) 658-4001 now, rather than letting the home care situation worsen and Mom or Dad end up in the Hospital due to too much medication, or dehydration. If your parents refuse care, then call them more on the phone and ask more pressing questions to help them realize in home care is the answer for continued living at home for seniors.

Be prepared to discuss which sibling will pay the bills? Which sibling will go to a Dr. Appointment to have a discussion on senior health, asking direct questions about medications and diagnosis? Who can travel in to meet with a senior home care agency to set up services? Having this plan in place for the holidays will set you up for the New Year, when you can get a caregiver coming out to care for your parents on a regular schedule. And if your parents have long term care insurance, we are a preferred provider with Genworth Financial, Met Life, Mutual of Omaha, Thrivent, CNA, Allianz, Mass Mutual, Transamerica, Bankers Life, New York Life, John Hancock to name a few. Call us, and we would love to help.
