Approved Home Care and Presbyterian Village North in Dallas, TX future plans with senior care.
We are excited to say a lot is happening at Presbyterian Village North, located at 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas, TX 75243, as they are undergoing an $87 million expansion. Presbyterian Village North is a nonprofit continuing care retirement center offering care for 550 seniors on the beautiful campus community. Presbyterian Village North offers seniors a variety of living options including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, with a certified Dementia and Alzheimer’s unit, and a robust Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility for both short term and long term care. They are conveniently located close to Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, and Medical City, not far from Highland Park, University Park, Garland, Plano, and Richardson, TX.
Presbyterian Village North is expanding by adding additional housing for elderly who prefer Independent Living, Assisted Living, and nearly doubling their skilled nursing capacities by 2017. The construction is already aggressively reshaping the entire property, and will make Presbyterian Village north virtually unrecognizable when construction is completed in about 2 years. As they were awarded by US News and World Report, Best in Nursing Homes in the past, they will surely continue receiving national awards for quality senior care on a beautiful tranquil groomed park of 63 acres in North Dallas.
Presbyterian Village North and we at Approved Home Care share core values of excellence, compassion, faith, and integrity. We love the staff at Presbyterian Village North, and have enjoyed working with residents at Presbyterian Village North in the Independent living homes, and the skilled nursing facility. Renovation is already completed on the Assisted Living center, game room, and dining room for the residents to enjoy.
Dementia and Alzheimer’s care is important to us at Approved Home Care since my mother in law suffered from memory issues in her early 80’s and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Charlotte was a very independent woman, working as a Real Estate agent until her 70’s, after working for the Central Intelligence Agency stationed in Austria after World War II. We helped Charlotte age with grace as activities of daily living became more difficult. She needed help with medication reminders, bathing, dressing, brushing her teeth, making meals, grocery shopping, and cleaning her house. Charlotte eventually entered a memory care facility, and our caregivers, or CNA’s were a blessing in her life.
Since we have lived thru the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s of a loved one, we are passionate at helping seniors and the elderly find a safe way to age in place at home. Our caregivers are trained in fall prevention, and dementia care, along with monthly in-service to ensure our ongoing training is the best in the industry. This business is personal to us, and we love making a difference with the elderly as they face similar challenges we endured as we cared for our mother.
Some family members, when visiting Mom, wanted to correct Mom, or tell her she had already told that story. These visits did not go well, and the same sister remained in denial that Mom had anything wrong, so she expected that Mom would act the same way as 10 years before. Family members need to realize that times are different for the loved one once diagnosis with Alzheimer’s. It is best to accept the diagnosis, than look for another reason for Mom’s inability to keep her focus. Correcting the patient creates frustration and confusion for the dementia patient. It is best to re-direct, not correct, to keep the stress level down for the Alzheimer’s patient.
